On its stand, the wide format digital print manufacturer will be exhibiting the new Oris Flex Pack/Web contract proofing package, launched at Packaging Innovations in London in October last year.

The system, which was developed by CGS Publishing Technologies as a solution for on-demand packaging proofing, combines Oris Flex Pack / Web software with a Roland VersaCamm VS printer/cutter, an Oris heating unit and a range of proofing media with connectivity to the Esko Color Engine spot colour database.

At the show Roland will use the system to demonstrate printing onto a range of substrates using metallic and white inks, which it added to the VersaCamm printer/cutter range in April 2012.

Summit delegates will also be able to see a 40-minute presentation and interactive workshop in which the company will detail the latest developments in its product range, including the LEC and VersaCamm VS series of printer/cutters, and their capacity to produce contract quality proofs and packaging prototypes onto production stock substrates.

Roland DG’s packaging, proofing and industrial labelling business manager, Steve Chappell said that wide format technologies were playing an increasingly important role in the packaging sector as more companies moved away from "time-consuming and costly" legacy proofing and prototyping systems and towards wide format digital printers.

He added: "Inkjet is a technology that is going to have a huge impact on the packaging sector over the next few years and Roland is a pioneer in this area with highly versatile machines like our LEC Series and VersaCAMM range."

Chappell said that the CGS proofing package would create huge savings in consumables costs and production time for design agencies, repro houses and in-house packaging departments without any compromise on the quality or the consistency of the packaging proof.

"I’m looking forward to introducing Roland DG and all we have to offer to all those key influencers and decision makers at the summit," he added.

The European Packaging Summit takes place on 14 and 15 January 2013 in Berlin, Germany.
