Replika Press marks a huge leap in book printing with investment in kit and site

Replika Press celebrated the printing of its most cherished book River of Smoke this year by moving and integrating the existing fleet of new post-press machines, in its extended 66,000 sq/ft premise in the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) in Kundli, Sonepat in Haryana.

The River of Smoke was launched by author Amitav Ghosh on 2 June 2011 in New Delhi. This is the second book in the trilogy of Ibis, published by Hamish Hamilton, an imprint of Penguin Books.

Replika Press exemplifies a gigantic book printing infrastructure. The 1,32,000 sq/ft sprawling print production facility has been inter graded from end-to-end with SAP ERP application across all verticals of pre-press, press and post-press.

Sanandan Seth, one of the directors at Replika, said: "We have invested Rs 15-cr in new building and machinery, mix and matching some of the best first machine in India to complement the fleet of 17 offset machines."

The Replika’s post-press has infrastructure that boasts of Heidelberg Stahlfolder TH 82; Multiplex In-Line, a 24 stations machine featuring 24 SignalLynx systems with optic controls; Kolbus Casemaker DA 260 with facilities of flexi bind, flat back and eccentrics binding; Kolbus book production Line BF 527; Kolbus FE 604 book forming and pressing machine with Kolbus DS 391 book stacker.

Besides, Replika has Aster and Muller Martini sewing machines, Sigloch book block processing machines, MBO combi-folders, Heidelberg and Bremer Mc Cain folders, Wohlenberg and Muller Martini perfect binders.

Replika, which prints 3,000 book titles per year, will soon announce a slew of further investments it has made. Bhuvnesh Seth, managing, director, said: "A KBA Rapida 105 (U) eight-colour kit is under installation. And the process for ISO 12647 certification for prepress and printing by Fogra should be in place by end of the year."
