The new press is an improved version of Rapida 105 with higher production performance (17,000sph) and standard sheet format of 740x1050mm. KBA has positioned this press between Rapida 105 and Rapida 106.

The Rapida 105 PRO can be equipped with HR-UV or LED-UV drying processes, which are also available for other Rapida presses. KBA claimed that the LED lamps have higher life cycle and give minimal heat transfer to the printing stock.

“With up to 10 printing units, with single and multiple coating applications, the Rapida 105 PRO is apt for both commercial printing as well as packaging printing applications,” said KBA in a press statement.

According to KBA, the feature set includes automated systems for plate changing and washing system for blankets, cylinders and rollers. “Also, the ink-ducts are coated with non-stick coating which greatly reduces time while ink changing. The machine runs only those units needed, saving time and energy,” said KBA.

During the demonstration, it was clear that the Rapida 105 PRO can work on wide spectrum of substrates with thicknesses ranging from 0.04mm to 1.6mm without making any adjustments in gripper system with substrate changes.

The new machine protects the environment with the VariDryBlue drying system by reusing the hot air, reducing energy consumption. The volume of exhaust air also gets minimised.

The Rapida 105 PRO will be commercially launched as part of an international open house at KBA’s Radebeul facility from 24 to 26 June.
