“After several months of research we narrowed down on Anicolor as best suited for our nature of business where we need to churn out several short-run jobs and that too at a competitive pricing,” said G N Vishwakumar, managing director of Rajams Digital.

Established in 2008, Rajams is one of the few shops which has both offset and digital capabilities and is equipped with a HP Indigo 1050 and a Komori Lithrone along with a Xerox 4112 press. The unit also houses complete post-press equipment including laminators, perfect binders etc.

“The Anicolor is in fact our second major investment for the year. Our first being Heidelberg Suprasetter CTP system, thereby giving us complete in-house capabilities for a job,” explained Vishwakumar.

The Speedmaster SX 52 is a hybrid press, combining the advantages of XL class with the tried-and-tested Speedmaster SM 52 platform. The Anicolor press is adept at handling short-run print jobs, starting from as low as 100 sheets, made possible, because the short, zone-less Anicolor inking unit consists of fewer rollers with a dampening system that facilitates quick and even inking.

Explaining the rationale behind the investment, Vishwakumar said, “As Chennai’s first print house with equal digital and offset capabilities, we found it imperative to offer a solution which maintains the high quality of our existing digital offerings and at a competitive pricing, Anicolor has proven the right choice for these factors.”

“On average, we run about 25 to 30 jobs in a 10-hour shift. That’s a pretty good number. The Anicolor lowers costs for short-runs, and generates premium quality output at digital speeds. Gradually, we pushed up productivity. Now, we utilise the SX- 52 to its maximum capability,” he added.

The Speedmaster SX 52 Anicolor can print on any paper with thickness ranging from 0.03 mm to 0.40 mm. It can handle sheet sizes varying between a minimum of 105mm x 145mm and a maximum of 370 mm x 520 mm.
