PrintPack: Kodak notches good numbers for NexPress and Trendsetter

Bucking the trend of static sales for its NexPress presses in recent times, Kodak India posted two bookings, one each for the NexPress 2500 and the SE 3000 digital production colour presses during the first three days of the PrintPack show.

Kodak showcased its NexPress SE3000 and its range CTPs for commercial and flexo graphics industry at  Hall 12A/Stall No 30C. "The dimensional and spot gloss prints were major attractions at the show," said Ramani Viswanathan, vice president for sales in digital printing, India cluster at Kodak.

The 2500 was ordered by Nex-Gen Digital, the digital offshoot of Shankar Offset Press in Khatmandu, Nepal. This is also the first digital production colour press in Nepal. The second was booked by Surat’s Perfect Photo Lab.

Kodak had earlier in the month announced the sale of SE 3000 to Rajkot-based Neel Digital Colour Labs, the first in Saurashtra/Kutch region of Gujarat.

Viswanathan said the sales of NexPress "is a significant announcement" for Kodak India. "It opens up the addressable market not only in India but neighbouring countries, as well."
Kodak also announced the sale of five Trendsetters, one to Delhi-based A S Offset while the other four were overseas sales, two each in Nepal and Bangladesh, respectively.

The overseas orders were finalised by Kodak’s channel partner Fujito, Singapore. Kodak expects to sell over 20 CTPs by the end of the show.

Noting that Kodak’s Trendsetters have been doing well during 2010, Kodak’s country head, Bhalchandra Nikumb, said: "Trendsetter sales are expected to continue to grow. Digital plate production hasn’t remained the domain of the well-heeled any more. A number of printers are moving swiftly to adopt CTP and in some case more it is a blistering pace."
