1. Printer arrested in Kerala - 1257 hits



A printing press owner, Rajeev, was arrested in Thrissur, Kerala on June 12 for printing a picture of the prime minister in a college magazine, under the heading ‘negative faces



 



2. Indian print equipment manufacturer lauded for Mangalyaan success - 1136 hits
 


Welbound Worldwide, the post-press equipment manufacturer, developed components for the 4th stage of the PSLV C 25 rocket and also PS4 fluid system components made for the Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM). The LAM, which is considered an engineering marvel, is meant to raise the orbit of the MOM, propel it on a trans-Mars trajectory and slow it down for Mars orbit insertion.


 


 

3. Marvel Graphic Studio immortalises Yash Raj movie - 1086 hits


Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge is set to complete its 1000th week in theatres this December and to commemorate this unique landmark, Yashraj Films have roped in Ahmedabad-based Marvel Art Gallery to produce limited edition serigraphs inspired by the Shahrukh Khan and Kajal starrer.


 


4. Chennai-based dealer dupes five print firms - 987 hits



There are rumours floating in the market about a Chennai-based pre-owned machine dealer having duped more than five print firms. One senior printer called this scribe and said, "I have made the payment but the machine has not been delivered in spite of a confirmed order."

 

 


 


 

5. HP launches Indigo 5600 in India  - 933 hits


HP has launched Indigo 5600 digital offset printing press in the Indian market. The newly launched printing press is pitched with a "one-shot ink" solution that would extend the Indigo market to plastic cards, graphic overlays and high-quality imaging on synthetic substrates’ market.

 

 



6. "India will be the fourth largest packaging power," says Dr D Purandeswari - 920 hits

The recently concluded Indiapack 2013 and concurrently conducted International Summit for Packaging Industry drew deeper insights on Indian packaging industry.  Dr D Purandeswari, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, was the chief guest at the show. She said, “India is the sixth largest packaging market worldwide. The packaging industry is expected to grow at 12.3% CAGR during next 4-5 years to become the fourth largest global market, with sales of $42.7bn.”

8. Rossini sets up a rubber roller factory in Pune - 873 hits



Rossini, the Italian manufacturers of rubber rollers, sleeves and mandrels for flexography and gravure presses, has set up a new manufacturing plant in Pune.

The 8,000 sq/m factory based out of Chakan near Pune, will be operational from May 2014.

 

 


9. Malayala Manorama signs deal with Muller Martini -  822 hits

PrintWeek India visited two plants at Malayala Manorama, one of India’s leading newspaper publishers in Kerala. Three plants in the southern state are in the process of modernising and expanding its print capacity with new generation presses and mailrooms. It was in Kerala, this scribe was informed that Muller Martini has inked a deal for five identical direct printing lines. These will ramp its three plants in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kottayam and Kollam (Quilon).


10. Flint Group India inaugurates new liquid ink plant in Vadodara - 765

Flint Group India inaugurated its new liquid ink manufacturing plant in Savli near Vadodara, Gujarat. Antoine Fady, chief executive officer, Flint Group, inaugurated the plant. Speaking on the occasion, Upal Roy, managing director at Flint Group India, said, “We want to be closer to the customers and reduce delivery time. The new plant will be in a position to cater to the growing needs of major packaging customers in North and West India. North is a big market and we have 40% share, which is huge.” 



11. New look "Photo Fair" in Mumbai - 726 hits


The 19th edition of Consumer Electronic Imaging Fair, which was previously known as Photofair was held at Mumbai’s Bombay Exhibition Centre from 9-12 January 2014. The fair covered a total area of 20,000 sq/mt, with a view to provide a broader platform, to meet the increasing demand of exhibitors of consumer imaging products
 


12. Toyo Ink India celebrates second plant opening - 667 hits



Toyo Ink India inaugurated its second India plant in Dahej, Gujarat, from where it hopes to cater to greater demand from the domestic as well as international market, particularly Africa and Middle East.

 
 
 
 

13. SRK ventures into offset printing with investment in Komori - 535 hits



SRK Creative, the Mumbai-based photo printing giant, has expanded its print offerings. The firm has invested in a refurbished Komori 528 with coater sheetfed offset press. Besides Komori, the company has also invested in Kodak CTP and allied machinery.

 

 


14. Mangalore-based Prakash Offset commissions India's first Heidelberg Anicolor press - 494 hits

 

Mangalore based Prakash Offset has recently commissioned a Heidelberg SM52 Anicolor press.“The press is currently being installed and is expected to be in operation in 20 days,” said P R Nayak, partner, Prakash Offset.

16. Canon's C800 launched in front of 125 print CEOs in Gurgaon  - 452 hits




It was a show of strength. Seven years into their presence in India, Canon announced the launch of the imagePress C800 series, comprising the C700 and C800, in front of 125 Canon customers at the Hyatt Regency in Gurgaon.



 


17. ARS Graphics leaps into digital printing with Kodak Nexpress - 446 hits

With their commercial and photo printing business growing at an exponential rate, when Sunil Chauhan, managing director, ARS Graphics, based in Delhi, wanted to investment in a digital press, deciding upon Kodak Nexpress digital production engine was an easy choice. “It had two things that appealed to me,” said Chauhan, “Its printable size (bigger than normal A3) and its higher production speed.”
 


18. ITC - PSPD inaugurates new facility in Talegaon - 434 hits

ITC-PSPD, a major player in paper and paper boards, inaugurated a new 60,000 sq/ft QSC (quick service centre) in Talegaon MIDC today (6 August).

The facility has been established as a contract partnership with Unisource Papers, promoted by Inder Aurora of Tradecom International, which previously ran a converting unit for BILT.

 

19. Konica Minolta introduces bizhub press C1070/1060 - 427 hits

Konica Minolta Business Solutions India (KMBSI) has launched new mid level digital colour printing presses KM bizhub press C1070/1060 at its Indian headquarter, Gurgaon.

These new presses run at 71 and 61 ppm, respectively for A4 size. Newly launched series provides enhanced productivity through its new improved quality mode and image quality with the fourth generation Simitri HD toner.
