Developed in collaboration with a Pune-based software specialist, Image ProVision, ProofCheck is aimed at pharma companies as well as their packaging vendors.

Speaking exclusively to PrintWeek India, Anil Madule, marketing manager – print inspection, said, “A reliable print-packaging vendor is the one which cross checks the ready-to-print artwork PDF file with the original customer-approved artwork PDF file before printing. Going further, the scanned file of first prints should also be matched against the original customer-approved PDF file. That's when the converter can assure his customer about 100% accuracy of its product.”

Along with the software package, Pratham also supplies a Graphtek scanner, which enables PDF to scan comparison.

During the demonstration, Harshal Mistri, team lead - technical support at Image Provision explained “The crux of the software is its pixel-to-pixel comparison of customer’s artwork with his multi-up PDF as well as with the scanned copy of the first printed sheet and detect deviations such as incorrect colour sequences, missing or wrong characters, spots or shadows. These errors are difficult to detect with manual approaches.”

According to Madule, after having successfully tested the software at a couple of beta sites, it was showcased for the first time at an exhibition and it generated a lot of serious enquiries as customers realise a need to automate the unreliable manual proof checking process.
