“The last couple of years haven’t been too good, but it looks like things are turning around,” said Hemanth Paruchuri, director at Pragati, while talking about the new investment.

The packaging specialist's VisionFold is capable of running at 350 mtrs/min. It will run alongside the company’s Bobst ExpertFold with Accubraille for Braille embossed cartons installed three years ago. “When we invested in the ExpertFold with Accubraille, our Pharma carton business was growing. It was a wise decision. We have been consistent with our quality, and production is quicker. It has saved a lot of time on the die-cutting machine,” said Paruchuri.

Pragati is known for producing value-added boxes in terms of the print design as well as the structure of the box. It is, therefore, important that the folder-gluers bring ease in operation while converting these special boxes. “We have worked with Bobst to ensure that the cartons we are facing issues with can run smoothly on their folders,” said Paruchuri. He added, “We run a lot more complex cartons on the folder-gluer, which were done manually earlier. It has resulted in a much higher productivity along with a better consistency.”

When Pragati decided to get the additional Bobst, it was looking for the same flexibility, productivity and ease of operation it found with the previous kit. “We have had a good experience with Bobst folder-gluer. That is the reason we are opting for the second folder-gluer from them.”

Paruchuri shared a key business success when it was saddled with a complex carton job. “We sought Bobst feedback on the feasibility, and the Bobst team returned saying that the folder-gluer will need to be fitted with a special part, and then it could be done. This kind of response gave us a lot of confidence while taking on the project.”

There’s an additional advantage with Bobst manufacturing a range of folder-gluer models in India. “Bobst India has the complete knowledge and know-how on folder-gluers. Hence any assistance in terms of parts to run complex cartons or any breakdown or servicing can be done quickly,” concluded Paruchuri.
