Poona Press Owner's Association celebrates 91st anniversary with a slew of activities

The Poona Press Owner's Association (PPOA) celebrated its 91st Anniversary with a host of activities which included felicitating the distinguished members of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP).

PPOA gave the "Yashaswini Puraskar" to professional women associated with the Pune printing industry and inaugurated the training centre initiated in association with Corel Corporation.

The event held on 19 November at Hotel President, Pune was attended by industry leaders like Pranav Parikh, the CMD and managing director of TechNova; Manoj Mehta, chairman of Utility Printpack and president of AIFMP; Jagdish Shah, Deepak Dhole Patil, president of PPOA; Ravindra Joshi, general secretary of AIFMP; and printers from Pune and Aurangabad along with their family members.

Mehta, while rendering his address, said: "AIFMP has done sterling work to increase the prestige of the printing industry. It is recognised by the Government of India as the only organisation representing the print industry on an all-India basis."

Parikh who felicitated the women entrepreneurs and also inaugurated the Corel training centre, lauded the volunteerism of PPOA. He said: "It's important that we do all we can to further the cause of the Indian print fraternity."

He added: "It's really encouraging to witness how the associations under the federation have come together, filling resources and helping the printers in any which way it can." Later, Parikh moderated a panel discussion on "Women entrepreneurs in print".

The event ended with a panel discussion where the audience fielded questions to the AIFMP and PPOA members.
