Ranjan Kuthari, president, AIFMP said, “National Awards for the Excellence in Printing (NAEP) is the prime event for the 2,50,000 printers of India and these are the only awards supported by the Government of India. I am thankful to Ricoh India for joining hands in this noble cause.”

Providing a concept of the awards, Kamal Chopra, organising secretary of the awards, said: “Printing, though a centuries-old technique is considered a mechanical, almost robotic, process of reproducing ideas on paper. It is, however, much more than merely pressing buttons on sophisticated printing machines. It is an art, comparable to the weaving of rich brocades, the painting of exquisite canvasses, the sculpting of rock etc. We printers are, therefore, nothing less than artists. Therefore we have given the concept of Karigari (craftsmanship) to this year's awards. Great Karigari needs to be appreciated, because, workmanship converts a great skill and craft to excellence.”

Further he said that for better participation and to open the event even for the most humble printers, AIFMP has introduced some new groups and categories this time. The small printers with 1 to 3 units have been placed under separate group to facilitate fair competition.

Similarly, web offset is the new group introduced this time. “For the ease of operation we have decided to call the entries only at one collection centre at New Delhi. The judging process will be captured on the camera to bring a transperancy and the results will only be announced at the time of award ceremony at New Delhi,” Chopra added.
