He said: "We're growing nicely, but more importantly we've an open plan environment and a five-colour press, which will not only benefit us, but also our clients."

The 35-staffed companyproduces export related products which includes tags, kerchief boxes, shirt box inserts, bedsheet displays.

Karthi said: "Karur exporters are family-based. There are 150 exporters of which 40 are our clients. In spite of the slowdown in the market, these clients are financially strong. There are no cash-flow issues. Plus the textile and hosiery market has bounced back after the financial jitters in the past year."

Monicka's site has no beams or pillars – and has good ventilation and lighting. The plant includes, a playground, workers' quarters, full-fledged kitchen, a 120kv genset and warehousing.

Karthi consulted an engineer from Coimbatore – and travelled to Germany, China and Hong Kong in order to understand architectural print plant designs.
