Speaking to PrintWeek India, V Natrajan, managing director of Aura Print Solutions, the Indian representative for MGI Digital Graphic Technology, said, “With the introduction of the ‘twin’ option, speeds for 3D spot UV coating with raised effects are doubled compared to the standard JETvarnish 3D configuration. MGI’s exclusive inkjet technology features a fixed head configuration, producing the new speed boost in just one pass while maintaining precise registration.”

The JetVarnish 3D ‘twin’ option can apply 3D raised effects at speeds up to 2,234 12x18” sheets per hour, making it the fastest digital raised coating device available today. It also doubles the amount of coating that can be applied in one pass to a maximum of 200 microns.

Natrajan said, “These gains in speed and productivity are ideally suited to higher volume applications for both printers and trade finishers. Moreover, it has opened up the new markets such as braille.”

In the standard configuration, the JetVarnish 3D can spot UV coat up to 3,000 20 inch x29 inch sheets per hour and features a maximum format size of 20inch x 42inch which is ideal for extended size offset applications.

This will be for the first time that MGI will showcase the JetVarnish 3D with ‘twin’ option with live demonstration at the Graphitec in Paris.

Meanwhile, besides JetVarnish 3D, MGI will present their full line of innovative digital printing and finishing solutions. This includes JetVarnish 3D inline hot foil option which allows printers and trade finishers to apply hot foil inline with an ‘embossed’ look and feel, Nova UV, a flood UV coater designed to work inline with MGI Meteor digital presses which can also serve as a stand-alone unit and its flagship Meteor series of digital presses, featuring the Meteor DP8700 XL and Meteor DP8700 S.

JetVarnish 3D was launched at Drupa 2012 and its commercial production started in November last year. Since then, more than 136 JetVarnish 3D have been installed worldwide. In India, there are 30 installations of MGI Meteor series of digital production presses along with the ancillary equipment.
