Gavin Rittmeyer, vice president, sales and marketing, Martin Automatic, said, “The automatic splicing machine is specially designed for label presses. It will increase the print quality and productivity as it will continue to run at a constant speed even during the roll-change operation and thereby reduce wastage. In addition, it will ease operation as the operator will no longer have to worry about manual roll-change.”

The compact MBSC splicer's butt splice unit, simultaneously severs the web and irons tape across the splice at a speed of 152 metres per minute and can handle a web reel of up to 13inch (330mm). The machine enables the printer to utilise the partially used rolls to reduce the wastage.

Martin Automatic has been exhibiting at the Labelexpo since 2008. Rittmeyer said, “The Indian printers and converters have realised the benefits of increasing productivity of a machine through more efficient use of materials and decreased wastage through automation rather than adding the excess production capacity having low productivity.”

According to Rittmeyer, the market growth in India will outpace the growth rate around the world. “The per capita consumption of labels in India today is the same as that was in Europe in 1970. Hence, there is a huge potential and opportunities in Indian market,” concluded Rittmeyer.
