Copyright Clearance Center, Inc (CCC), the global leader in content management, licensing, discovery and delivery solutions, has partnered once again with the Frankfurt Book Fair to highlight issues at the heart of publishing, including copyright and content, diversity and digital transformation.

“This year brings to focus emerging trends in copyright and publishing, including digital transformation through knowledge engineering, the importance of diversity and more. We’re honoured to once again be part of the engaging and actionable conversations the Frankfurt Book Fair is known for,” said Michael Healy, executive director, international relations, CCC.

As part of the partnership, CCC will be hosting and participating in talks throughout the week.

Frankfurt Rights Meeting

To be held on 10 October, the hallmark conference for the international rights and licensing business, this year’s Frankfurt Rights Meeting focuses on changes taking place in the rights market, including what is happening in the Japanese market, and with rights having to do with audio and the influence of social media on the rights trade. The conference has a new format; the first two hours will include presentations and panel discussions on the given topics, followed by roundtable sessions with the speakers and other experts to explore certain points in more detail and ending with the networking reception. Michael Healy, CCC’s executive director, international relations to host a roundtable session.

Book, film and games industries come together

Members of the book, film and games industries will meet at the fair on 12 October 2017 when the ‘A Book is a Film is a Game’ networking day takes place once again. Successfully launched last year for the first time, this schedule of panel discussions, workshops, matchmaking sessions and networking opportunities will take place in a number of different venues across the fairgrounds. It is aimed at film and games producers, and at rights managers of publishing houses.

Juggernaut’s Anish Chandy in Frankfurt Fellowship Programme 2017

Anish Chandy, head of business development & rights, Juggernaut Books will be one of the 16 candidates selected for the Frankfurt Fellowship Programme 2017. Beginning on 1 October 2017, 16 publishing professionals from 16 countries will visit publishing companies and attend networking events in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin.  

This year, for the first time, one participant will receive funding as the “Fred Kobrak Frankfurt Fellow”. In memory of Fred Kobrak, a dedicated and long-serving player in the international publishing industry who passed away in December 2016 at the age of 88 years, his family will cover the travel and accommodation costs for one Frankfurt Fellow. “Fred had a longstanding passion for the Frankfurter Buchmesse – not only did he attend 56 years in a row, the fair became a second family to him. We are happy that the Frankfurt Fellowship gives us, his other family, the chance to support young publishing professionals in taking part in this event that meant so much to him,” Paul Kobrak, Fred Kobrak’s son, said.

For the next ten years of the Frankfurt Fellowship Programme, each year one Frankfurt Fellow will receive funding. In 2017, Tynan Kogane from the USA has been chosen as the inaugural Fred Kobrak Frankfurt Fellow.
