The firm has made its first move into digital photo printing in eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP) with an investment in a seven-colour HP Indigo 5500 for specialised photo book printing.

The 5500 was installed in March 2010, which was followed by the launch of Rishtein Yaadein, a customised, fade-resistant, non-tearable, lightweight waterproof designer photobook.

Capt Rajendra Agarwal, founder of Kaydee Colour Lab, said: "We always vouch for the best in business, whether it was the digital silver halide machine, we bought in 2003 or the newest Indigo 5500."

He added: "The market has become a battlefield today. For me, my Indigo kit is like an AK-47 rifle against a regular revolver. I see the investment as a winning edge in competitive business."
Established in 1996, Kaydee is managed by Suresh, Agarwal's younger brother.

The 5500 enables printing CMYK with the fifth and sixth colour (orange and violet) along with light cyan and light magenta.

Ramani Viswanathan, country manager for HP Indigo division, HP India, said: "Exclusivity with personalisation and storing cherished memories in a prized format is every consumers' aspiration.

A shorter and faster way of accomplishing this is turning to be a necessity today and the path breaking HP Indigo presses empower to achieve that."

The firm leverages a network of more than 500 studios that it has built since 2004. "Generating business where there are none guarantees a loyal customer base for a long time. Believing in this USP, we are reaching out to remote areas, establishing our network of agents and professional photographers through a roadshow across UP, Bihar, Nepal," concluded Agarwal.
