Labelexpo Europe preview: Press

A look at press manufacturers who will exhibit at Labelexpo Europe.
 

Berkeley Machinery

Berkeley Machinery, manufacturer of a wide range of printing, converting and custom-made machinery will co-exhibiting with Polygraphica, a supplier of pre-owned label equipment. Being shown for the first time to a European audience, the inline Comet range is for labels, special packaging material and folding box cartons and is produced in web widths from 270 to 530mm.

Edale

Edale will premier its label and flexible packaging press FL-3 at the show this year. , Amitabh Luthra, managing director of Printers Supply Company, the Indian representative of Edale presses, said, “Edale will be running their next generation UV flexo FL-3 label and flexible packaging press every day throughout the four day show to simulate a real production environment, highlighting the machines focus on high productivity, low waste and super fast set up and changeover times.” The FL-3 is quick to set up whilst generating absolute minimal waste. The impression pre-setting system allows the operator to set the impression once, and then they can change it between repeats without the need to reset. The Edale FL-3 has already been installed in the UK, Germany and Mexico. The FL-3 has features like short setup times (under 10 minutes), less than 20m of setup waste, and the capability of running up to 200m/min. The press is capable to run wider substrate range from 30 – 450 micron.

Etirama

At Labelexpo, Etirama will exhibit its new modular flexographic press model ES 3500 at Labelexpo Europe 2013. The company claims Etirama press ES 3500 has the short-web system, an extremely attractive investment value. Based in Brazil, Etirama has been manufacturing flexographic presses for 50 years.

Gallus

Gallus will be presenting the Linoprint L drop-on-demand system from Heidelberg. It is the first time that Gallus will exhibit the technology at a trade show since it acquired the sales licence in June 2013. Two of the digital printing systems in different working widths will be given the task of producing challenging variable short runs at the Gallus Group stand. Gallus will be using its Gallus Print Shop concept to demonstrate how the benefits of digital and conventional printing methods can be combined to produce labels time-saving and more cost-effectively. While the 210mm system and the Gallus ECS C will be integrated into the Gallus Print Shop for hybrid label production, the 315mm system will give visitors an insight into the higher print quality made possible by the new digital front end. Gallus will also be showing a wide range of Gallus Screeny Genuine printing plates for rotary screen printing with the multifunctional printing unit on the Gallus RCS 330. Together with its industry partner Siegwerk, Gallus will also be exhibiting the Gallus EM 280 with full LED UV curing system and printing live the latest UV LED ink from Siegwerk.

Gallus has installed 70 presses in India in which EM280 press tops the list with more than 55 installations.

Goss International

Goss International will introduce its Goss Sunday Vpak web offset presses for label, folding carton, flexible packaging and pre-print applications. With options for integrating a wide range of printing and finishing stations, including flexo, gravure, screen and digital, to form a hybrid production line, Vpak presses allow packaging printers to benefit from the inherent advantages of offset with added flexibility.

Mark Andy

Mark Andy will show several outstanding flexo printing solutions including the Performance Series P3 and P5 narrow-web presses at Labelexpo Europe 2013. The P3 model will feature Mark Andy ProLED system, an integrated solution that uses LED. The P5 will display highly productive in-line die cutting with the help of Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) technology that removes the bottleneck of long die changeovers. Live demonstrations of both presses will be held daily.

MPS Systems

At the show, MPS, a UV flexo press manufacturer, will introduce a newly broadened EF multi-substrate flexo press line now available in three versions. With the theme, “The Choice is Yours”, MPS will showcase its range of press solutions – from entry level to high-end solutions. While the EF press comes as a standard with a basic automation package, the broadened features include two additional packages in print setting control, which can be configured to increase productivity of the EF press even further. MPS’ new EB flexo press is termed as a cost-effective solution. Besides, the company will introduce a new MPS LED UV dryer technology and its Track-and-Trace functionality, which is connected and integrated into machine job memory. Show visitors can see live demonstrations of the EF-Flexo and the EXL-offset press lines.

Muller Martini

Muller Martini will present its process know-how and varied substrate range, as well as innovative samples from label printing and flexible packaging at Labelexpo Europe 2013. The company will showcase numerous options that its printing press range offers for the production of labels, shrink sleeves and flexible packaging including latest developments for the VSOP and Alprinta V printing presses.

Multitec Aids

Faridabad-based Multitec Aids, manufacturers of printing and converting machine in the mid-web and narrow-web offering a wide range of flexographic presses, variable cut-off offset presses, sheeters, slitter rewinders and baling presses. At Brussels, it will showcase it Ecoflex narrow-web label press for self-adhesive labels, ATM rolls and tags. According to Multitec, Ecoflex VSi press is an advanced narrow-web press with servo infeed and print units, best suited for small changeover time. According to Amit Ahuja, director of Multitec Aids, the key advancements based on the principle of quick-change plate cylinders made to the machine in 2012 has shortened the set up time. “The Ecoflex presses has been tremendously successful, having sold more than 46 presses since its launch in 2008,” he says.

Nilpeter

Nilpeter will launch the new high performance FB-3 flexo press at the show. It delivers a top speed of 228 m/min (750 ft/min) with no compromises to print quality on webs up to 350mm (13.75inch) wide. The press runs with either hot air dryers or inter-deck UV-curing lamp units. Other options include freely-positioned units for rotary UV-screen, as well as hot and cold foil. FB-3 presses also include Nilpeter’s Cleaninking system for water-based or UV cured flexo inks.

Nuova Gidue

Gidue will be present with four new lines of presses to print self-adhesive, in-mould and wraparound labels, sleeves, flexible packaging, lamitubes, , aluminum foils and carton boxes. The presses include MX2 entry-level press, M1 digital flexo press with digital set up times, M3 digital flexo for a wide range of supported and unsupported substrates and M5 excellence press, which Gidue terms as revolution - 10 meters of waste, 60 seconds of time to change 8+8 print cylinders and 1+1 magnetic cylinder.

Omet

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Omet will launch XFlex X6 and announce the return of the XFlex X4. The XFlex X6 configuration to be presented at Labelexpo Europe 2013 will be a mix of flexo and offset technology and the new offset units will be equipped with light sleeves to increase further the machine benefits in terms of rapidity of change, user-friendliness and general ergonomics. Omet recently announced will install aa  Variflex and X-Flex narrow web flexo presses at Zircon Technologies and Sel-Jegat Printers respectively. Omet has recently installed an X4 label press at Hyderabad-based Arunodaya Print Pack.
