Koral Graphics inaugurates Kochi unit with Konica Minolta C8000

Alappuzha, Kerala-based Koral Graphics is on an expansion mode. It has set up its second unit in Kochi with an installation of Konica Minolta Bizhub C8000 digital colour printing press and range of finishing equipment.

The new 1,000 sq/ft unit was inaugurated on 12 December. The owner, Shajimon C A, is upbeat about the print market in Kochi, which is the industrial capital of the state. Speaking to PrintWeek India, Shajimon said, “We are excited about the print market in Kochi, where in each of the two top players produce 1.75 lakh 13x19inch copies per month. We are looking to tap the opportunity with KM C8000.”
 
The machine was supplied by Monotech Systems, a national partner of Konica Minolta Business Solutions India for Production Printing Solutions.   
 
Tadahiko Sumitani, managing director, Konica Minolta said “We are proud and happy to install the flagship product of KM bizhub PRESS C8000 at Koral Graphics at the “printers street” in Kochi.  With this we will be able to serve the digital printing needs of customers in Kochi through Koral Graphics.”
 
“The plan is to reach 3,500 copies per month in next six months and 5,000 copies per month by the end of one year,” said Shajimon. 
 
Besides C8000, the print firm has also invested in finishing equipment such as cutting machine, thermal lamination machines and binding kit. It has also added a plotter printer from Ricoh to cater to the architectural and CAD printing applications.
 
Koral Graphic is a 14-year old firm which started its operations with Xerox 5252 in Alappuzha and later upgraded its facility with Kerala’s first Ricoh Pro C751 and a Pro 907EX. Koral Graphics’ Alappuzha facility is spread over an area of 2,500 sq/ft and employs 15 persons.
 
Other than Koral Graphics, Jerry’s Colour Lab and Flash Printers are the two major players in Kochi’s print industry.
