Kolkata’s PN Mukherjee installs Konica Minolta C2070

Kolkata-based PN Mukherjee and Co has invested in a Konica Minolta Accurio Press C2070. The machine was installed mid-January. “We opted for the machine as we were impressed with the promised ease of use and the potential for creativity and efficiency,” said Amrita Mukherjee, director of the company. “So far, we are happy with the performance. We are looking forward to test it further and put it through its paces as we expand our customer base.”

Mukherjee added that with the C2070, the company now wants to delve into the rapidly increasing commercial printing market. “The machine gives us the ability to deliver results quickly and also manage print requirements which have very short runs, something that would not be feasible with our existing setup,” she said.

PN Mukherjee and Co has been specialising in the field of liquor label printing over the last four decades, supplying to the erstwhile Shaw Wallace, and currently to USL, a Diageo group company. “Our current objective, following the purchase of C2070 is to target short run jobs for both commercial and private groups, printing leaflets, brochures, cards, catalogues, and more,” Mukherjee added.

Besides this machine, PN Mukherjee has a six colour gravure machine, and a fleet of offset machines, including one four-colour Heidelberg GTO; two two-colour Heidelberg GTO; and one single colour Heidelberg GTO. The company also boasts of five foil stamping machines, including one Kluge, two Heidelberg cylinders, and two Platten machines. Its comprehensive post-press department comprises of machines such as two polar-cutting machines, and three die-punching machines, among others.

Founded by PN Mukherjee in 1968, the company is located in Sector V, arguably Kolkata’s most thriving centre of business and commerce. Today, the company is run by PN Mukherjee and his daughter Amrita.

Mukherjee said that given its strategic position in the heart of Kolkata’s business hub, the company is hoping to capture the commercial print needs in the surrounding areas, making optimal utilisation of the cutting edge technology provided by the machine as well as its decades of experience and expertise in the field of printing.

“Our current short-term objective is to move into the flexo printing system while at the same time developing our niche in the digital printing market with our C2070,” concluded Mukherjee.
