Kerala’s Indot Color World installs its third HP Indigo digital offset press

The multi-locational digital printing company, Indot purchased its first HP Indigo digital press in 2011. Indot Colour, which has four branches spread across Kerala, is currently gearing to set up a new branch at Kozhikode. Of its four branches, two are equipped with a raft of digital photo and digital photo-book making machines. In addition the company has several collection centres across Kerala.

On the installation Sushil Kumar CP, managing partner, Indot Color World, commented, “Our perception towards the photo business changed when we installed the first HP Indigo digital offset press. We felt a need to stay on top of new and emerging opportunities and to constantly innovate to meet customer demands. With this goal in mind we have started an upgraded and bigger printing unit of Indot Color World in Chalakudy. We want to establish ourselves as a photobook print masters in Kerala, and this installation will provide impetus to our efforts in this direction.”

He further added, “At each of our three centres on average we are creating 3,000 professional photobooks each month. A fleet of Indigo printers across the three centres print a total of 15 lakh A4 prints each month.”

As the Indian photo market continues to evolve, professional photo labs are searching for solutions that produce high-quality photo prints with cost and environmental advantages and our HP Indigo digital presses stand out in this regard.”

The wedding industry in India is worth Rs 1.25-lakh crore and it continues to grow. If one looks at the annual growth, this specific industry weighs more by 25% each year. Around 85% of Indot’s production is from the photobook market. However, Kumar shared that the company aims to increase the commercial printing segment of the business to 20% in the next few months. “The focus although is heavily bent towards the photobook segment, especially wedding albums’ market."

Indot has also been catering to clients not only in Kerala but also in far off states such as Rajasthan and Orissa through its web-to-print services. “Web-to-print services offer great opportunity for us as well as our clients to order prints without the need of personally visiting the branch. The age of Halide-prints is almost over. In fact, with the pace digital printing technology and web-to print is being accepted in these parts, I am sure that in next two years, 80% of the printers in south will move towards digital,” he added.
