Established in 1996, KayDee Color Lab has emerged as one of the leading players in photo album and commercial digital print segments, with operations in nine states.

When PrintWeek India spoke to Captain Rajendra Agarwal, the founder of KayDee Color Lab during PrintPack India, he had shared his plan of expanding his company’s photo and commercial printing business pan India. “The new operation at Surat is part of that plan,” said Captain Agarwal during the inauguration of the Surat operation.

KayDee first invested in first digital photo imaging machine from Frontier in 2003. In 2010, the firm invested in HP Indigo 5500 to cater to the northern region.

In his quest to find an appropriate kit to keep pace with the growing photo printing business, Captain Agarwal travelled to Drupa in 2012 and Photokina in 2013. “We witnessed and tested various printing machines before we finalised on the Kodak NexPress Photo Press,” he said.

According to Captain Agarwal what tilted the scale in favour of Kodak 3300 was the capability of the photo press to produce different applications like dimensional, flood coat and glossing, larger printing area and size scalability, higher productivity, versatility of the press, colour reproduction and Kodak’s service and support. “The invitation cards and other printed products showcasing NexPress applications, distributed in this event itself, is a firsthand proof as well as an example of versatility and quality excellence of this press,” he said.

Ramani Viswanathan, vice president for digital print at Kodak India, who was present at the inaugural event, said, “We are happy to be associated with a leading photo giant like KayDee Color Lab; the first installation of Kodak NexPress Photo Press at Surat will facilitate KayDee Color Lab to deliver high quality photo prints to the photo industry. The unique capabilities of Kodak NexPress will help to serve variety of printing needs, higher impact communications to the market, which in turn will accelerate their expansion plans and business growth.”
