Jwalamukhi finds solution in SM 74 4+L

Jwalamukhi Mudranalaya brings in a refurbished Heidelberg SM 74 (four-colour) with an inline coater at its unit in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. The 2009-make equipment has replaced the Heidelberg MOV on its shopfloor.

The investment, said C S Shivakumar, CEO at Jwalamukhi, was made to upgrade the firm’s operations while catering to the specific needs of the clients. “The new equipment met our specific requirement of printing on recycled paper and board. As it is for recycled substrates, an online coating feature was essential. Thus, for us, the SM doubles up as an upgrade to the existing sheetfed setup and enables us to cater to new set of clients.”

Jwalamukhi began production on the machine earlier this month, on 4 October.

Shivakumar, a Heidelberg loyal for Jwalamukhi’s sheetfed operations, is all praises for the new machine. He said, “This very sparingly used machine is fully loaded. It comes with preset functions,  auto plate and auto wash functions plus the CPC 2000 Instant Gate, a preset link for ink profiles and pre-press interface.”

In addition to this, according to Shivakumar the online coater, the IR Dryer and the speed of 13,000 sheets are the key features of the machine.

While expanding the sheetfed capacity, Jwalamukhi has upped its post-press division with two investments; a Duplo 5000 collater sticher with trimmer and a Nagel creasing and perforating machine. The Duplo, according to Shivakumar, gathers, collates and trims 80 pages at a time with a speed of 5000 copies.

Duplo and Nagel will be installed at the unit in early November.

In this sense, Jwalamukhi operates with a motto of continual technology investment and clientele expansion. In the previous year, it invested in a Ricoh C751 to produce proofs and short-run books thus entering the digital platform.
