The investment is also a first step towards a ten-year plan, which when complete will quadruple its existing capacity, said Himanshu Kapur, director of the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 accredited label manufacturing firm.

Kapur added that compromising on quality is something that the firm does not believe in, hence it ordered a specially modified HSR 330 slitting-rewinder machine with 100% inspection system equipped. “This was done to meet customer demands from pharmaceutical industry and to provide high levels of quality.”

The specifically designed Omega slitter-rewinder can reach speeds of 300-meters per minute while maintaining accurate rewind tension, ensuring high quality finished roll. The servo-technology CC1500 core cutter is capable of automated changeovers and core widths. Kapur said, “These equipment will provide maximum efficiency while eliminating manpower and reduce core stock holding, which is a key in today’s hi-tech world.”

The one-stop shop firm, besides the new kit is equipped with a seven- and eight-colour label printing machines, two slitting machines, numbering machines, block-making machines, quality control machines, ink checking machines, grammage testing machines among others.

Besides the present investment, JK Labels is in the process of investing in two more label converting machines, which would considerably add to the firm’s existing capacity to produce sticker labels. “JK labels has been growing year on year thanks to their customers who have supported us throughout. As a forerunner in the label manufacturing segment, we will be adding two sophisticated 10-colour UV label presses by the end of this year to meet the demand of our customers.”
