“It’s been a fantastic five-year run. There have been so many people who have put in immense effort to produce the entries and it includes our team and our clients,” said Khushru Patel, joint managing director of Jak, as he and his team accepted the awards and certificates.

The eight edition of NAEP, organised and hosted by the Poona Press Owners Association (PPOA), saw a total of 1,850 entries in 104 categories from 160 printers across India. Besides Jak, the other big winners were Archana Advertising (28), Manipal Technologies (15), Prodon Enterprises (13) and CDC Printer (12).

Javed Akhtar, noted lyricist and film script writer, graced the event as the chief guest. Lauding the importance of print, Akhtar said that the society took a big leap after the 15th century. “The last 500 years has played a pivotal role in the progress of the society and printing has played a significant part, making information, knowledge and science available to all,” he said.

Akhtar also recounted his visits abroad and the quality of prints he saw there. “I always used to wonder, why can’t we print something like this in India? And after seeing the print samples here, I am happy that our printers are capable of world-class printing,” he said.

Ravindra Joshi, president of PPOA and organising-secretary of NAEP, said, “Awards events aspire printers to attain greater heights, and I am glad to be hosting the NAEP event in Pune. I thank the AIFMP for giving the PPOA an opportunity to host the event.”

Govind Bhargav, president of the All India Federation of Master Printers, which instituted the Awards, said that he is happy with the response received from the print industry and the huge turnout at the event in Pune. “It’s not important whether one wins or not, but it’s important to participate,” he said.
