IRS Q1 2012: Top 10 (regional) language dailies lose 5.22 lakh readers, Gujarat Samachar bucks trend

Rank of top 10 dailies largely unchanged; Top 10 Hindi dailies add 3.95 lakh readers, English dailies 1.23 lakh

The top 10 Hindi Magazines witnessed a cumulative drop of 3.94 lakh readers in Q1 2012 over Q4 2011. Meri Saheli was the biggest gainer registering an increase of 46,000 readers. Cricket Samrat and Grehlakshmi were the other magazines in the top 10 to register a growth in readership. The biggest drop was for SarasSalil, which saw a loss of 1.67 lakh readers.

The top 10 English Magazines cumulatively registered a growth of 96,000 readers in Q1 2012 over Q4 2011. While the leader India Today gained marginally, Pratiyogita Darpan and Business Today added 42,000 and 40,000 readers respectively.

The top 10 (regional) language magazines have witnessed a cumulative drop of 2.71 lakh readers in Q1 2012 over Q4 2011. Barring the Bengali titles - Karmakshetra, Karmasangsthaan and SaptahikBartaman - all others registered a drop in readership.
