The instructive two-days of Indo-German Packaging Conference

The third Indo-German Packaging Printing Conference held in Mumbai was a stirring and educational experience for the print and packaging leading lights.

The two-day conference witnessed various sessions on applications of decoration in rigid plastic packaging like beverages, functional printing in packaging, sustainable packaging, alternate technologies for conserving resources in the printing processes, substrates in packaging and printing, water conservation and approach to zero liquid discharge in paper manufacturing plant.

The interactive session on the topic, green, on the second day, highlighted the importance of being environmentally conscious and how various companies are using this as a marketing tool to lure their ever so informed customers. The session was chaired by Ramu Ramanathan, group editor, Haymarket Media India. Environment concerns for printing industry were talked about by Kiran Prayagi.

Kishor Buttani, managing director at Robatech India spoke about the latest trends in gluing and laminating application and also their use in packaging field. Amongst the speakers, Vilva Natarajan spoke about use of efficient data backups and storage technologies, use of technology in proof reading applications, S V Subrahmanyam of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper, Prabuddha Dasgupta of Unilever,  Dr Moazzam Ali of Chemnitz Univeristy, Germany , Narendra Attarde from Manugraph India and Avinash Mukkolath from Essel Propack, spoke about the prevalent challenges and hurdles trounced by the industry.
