The Truepress bought eight months ago, has increased the Sivakasi-based printer's capacity to handle short-run jobs, especially for its dedicated walk-in customers.

Since it was installed, the new press has handled shorter runs – up to 10 specialised jobs per day – some of which include specialised 3-D lenticular printing.

As Jayachandra, the partner at Insource said: "There have been other DI machines that haven't been as successful or as good as this one. If you have the right application of work, the right mix, then it fits."

The unit which houses a Xerox DC 5000 and an HP 8100 inkjet press, has a steady flow of walk-in business. The customers print a range of leaflets, brochures, visiting cards and other stationery that are "ideal" for the Truepress, according to Jayachandra.

He added: "With the Truepress 344, the makereadies for a digital offset press are much faster. We can reduce the cost to the customer and provide service in the short-run segment to print buyers in Sivakasi."

Jayachandra and his partners saw the Truepress at an open house which was organised by Proteck at their Chennai unit. At that time, the company saw an opening for lenticular printing.

Jayachandra said: "We expect a major boost in lenticular printing, particularly 3-D images, which can be applied in many business and consumer applications."

Insource has special lens that enhances screen rulings. The Truepress has increase the lenticular uptake.
