The newly established packaging division will provide solutions for flexible and mono carton packaging.

Sangam Khanna, director-sales, Insight Print Communications, said, “The packaging segment is flourishing at a very fast pace. Expanding our portfolio with the Czech-based Soma and Komori Chambon will allow us to provide 360-degree solution for a packaging printer.”

Insight will be the sole distributor for India for both the companies.

The Soma portfolio encompasses CI flexographic presses, slitter/rewinders, laminators, mounterproofers, sheeters and die-cutters while the Komori Chambon portfolio offers offset printing presses, rotogravure presses, rotary die-cutter and special machines.

Insight has formed a new team to cater to the packaging division, which is headed by Bhupinder Shrivastav. The division will address the demands of both, the mono cartons and flexible packaging. Optimistic about the available opportuinities, Khanna quoted, "The ratio of flexible and mono carton packaging is 70-30. There are huge opportunities for us and we look to make the best of these.”

He added: “A packaging printer seeks for a cost effective product. We are looking at a market size of Rs 200 to 250 crore. We see a 28% and around 20% growth in flexible and mono cartons packaging respectively. We can now offer more than the standard six-colour offset printing press with online UV and coating for our packaging customers. We are expecting a Rs 100- crore business for our packaging division this year.”
