According to reports, senior officials from the state government, including collector N. Yuvaraj, APIIC chairman P Krishnaiah and MP K Haribabu, have expressed their willingness to allot land for the park.

This comes after, Indian Institute of Packaging director NC Saha’s visit to the city last month, when he assessed  the scope for packaging in the city, informed Shekhar Amberkar, associate director, IIP.

The packaging park will be a reserved stretch of land, wherein packaging converters will be invited to set up.

There are over 10,000 industries of various sizes in the city. Out of which only 50 of them are engaged in the production of packaging material.

“Also, there are plans to establish an IIP campus in the packaging park for training and packaging material testing,” said Amberkar.
