HP celebrates 20 years of HP Indigo press with Indigo 10000 success

HP has celebrated the 20th anniversary of HP Indigo press with the announcement of 60 HP Indigo 10000 digital press installation across 20 countries, including the second installed at Coimbatore-based Glo Color Lab in India. India’s first Indigo 10000 was installed at Mazda Imaging in Mumbai.

HP also announced the installation of HP Indigo 7600 digital press at Printonica (Sri Sivarama Digital Press) in India.

The HP 10000 will be installed at the company’s Coimbatore unit. Glo incidentally was the first Indian print company to install HP Indigo 5600 early this year. Glo has two branches located at Chennai and Madurai, and the head office is located in Coimbatore. The company also has several franchises spread across various locations in the southern India. The most recent addition to this is Glo's Tirupur unit which was inaugurated in the month of September.

Glo specialises in producing photo-albums with 90% of its workload coming customers catering to wedding ceremonies. According to TS Ramanan, managing director of Glo, the new installation while further driving growth of his company’s commercial printing segment while providing new and innovative products to the photo industry in India, it will also give the company new capabilities to venture into commercial printing, packaging and proofing.

 “Installing the HP Indigo 10000 has widened the scope of our business,” said Ramanan. “With our last installation of HP 5600 at Madurai, we have already increased our productivity by 40,000 A3 sheets per month. The HP 10000 will bolster our productivity further. This press too will be used for commercial printing and photobook applications.”

HP Indigo 10000 digital press was first shown during Drupa 2012 along with two other digital presses, HP Indigo 20000 and Indigo 30000.

Commenting on the installations, Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager for graphic solutions business at HP Asia Pacific and Japan, said, “Changing commercial printing business conditions are forcing printing companies to take a hard look at their technology, application offerings and how they create a competitive advantage in the marketplace.” He added, “HP’s digital solutions’ portfolio is the future of the printing industry, fuelling a transformation from analogue to digital while offering printing companies new avenues to enhance profitability.”
