HP adds new solutions to print any labels

HP Indigo announced a new portfolio of solutions for digital printing, significant among them being the embellishment of labels in any quantity for any application.

The new development, HP said, is an industry-leading move to transform labels and packaging printing from analogue to digital, enabling converters to profitably grow their businesses into new markets.

The one-pass HP Indigo GEM digital embellishments solution comes 15 months after the Drupa 2016 rollout, and is available for pre-ordering at the show. At the show, integrated with the HP Indigo WS6800 digital press, the kit was producing decorated labels.

“Our LEP technology unveiled at Drupa last year was a leap forward, and fully launched to customers. The innovation now continues, as we expand our capabilities and bring the industry’s most powerful digital label printing solutions that will help converters double their digital business over the next few years,” said Alon Bar-Shany, general manager, HP Indigo. “With these solutions converters can streamline and reinvent the production floor and print any label, no matter the complexity, to successfully help meet new market demands.”

Other announcements included Pack Ready for labels, a new solution supporting the production of high performance, high-resistance labels to help meet the industry’s highest standards, including for household and chemical products; a new HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver, now in beta customer testing for printing metallic colours, combining metallic effects with digital capabilities in one printing process; and HP PrintOS new applications and features for labels and packaging.

Bar-Shany announced the sale of the hundredth HP Indigo digital press for flexible packaging and the fiftieth HP Indigo 30000 sale for the folding carton to a customer in France. “With more than 1500 labels and packaging presses installed worldwide, HP is leading the industry’s transformation,” said Bar Shany.
