Serving the alcoholic beverage industry, Axiom Propack is a specialist manufacturer of high-tech safety closures that are tamper-evident, non-refillable, and leak-proof.

Guala Closures Group chairman and CEO Marco Giovannini said: “With this acquisition, we aim to reinforce our position in the area and to increase our capacity in order to properly answer to the growing demand of protection against products’ counterfeiting.”

Axiom manufactures two variants of anti-counterfeiting composite closures – a two-part Uber plastic cap and a six-part Neo plastic closure.

The Neo closure is a six-part assembled closure made of polycarbonate and polypropylene. It is internally perforated at intervals around its circumference, forming a series of “bridges”. When the closure is unscrewed in the anti-clockwise direction for the first time, the bridges break and allow an annular coloured tamper-evident band to pop-up around the neck of the closure. The band remains intact around the closure, proving that the bottle has already been opened and in use.

According to Axiom, “The complex valve system includes a one-way valve, as well as a glass ball valve to prevent adulteration and ensures that the bottle cannot be refilled.”

In addition to this, the cap design includes an element called ‘bustago’ which ensures fill-levels in sealed bottles.

The Uber cap is a two-part closure made of polypropylene.According to Axiom, “Uber has an external band with a Pull tab to facilitate tearing. The users must tear the band in

According to Axiom, “Uber has an external band with a Pull tab to facilitate tearing. The users must tear the band in anti-clockwise direction in order to tamper it and open the bottle for the first time. Once the band gets detached, the inner cap can be unscrewed and re-closed normally. When the bottle is resealed by the inner cap, the external empty space where the band existed indicates that the bottle has been opened.”

Subject to customary closing conditions, the deal is expected to be completed in the next three months.

Guala Closures Group produces non-refillable and aluminium closures for spirits, wine, oil and vinegar, water and beverages, non-refillable and aluminium closures for spirits, wine, oil and vinegar, water and beverages.
