Glo celebrates 33 years with official launch of Indigo 10000

Coimbatore-based Glo Colour Lab hosted a mega event which attracted more than 2,000 photographers to celebrate its 33rd anniversary at Codissia Trade Fair complex in Coimbatore on 4 (today) and 5 April 2014. The company along with HP, today, announced the official launch of the HP Indigo 10000 press in the presence of media representatives.

Glo's theme for the event, "print solutions for every age" was splashed in a full page in The Hindu; as well as messages on Radio Mirchi.

The highlight of the event was multiple product galleries which Gamyanth Shren said aimed to "make print cool." This was evident in the mind-boggling variety of print samples produced by Glo on its array of Indigo presses. These samples feature diverse applications and numerous innovations included augmented reality, personalised printing, photobooks, and uniquely fabricated boxes among others.

Addressing the audience of more than 2,000 people, T S Ramanan, managing director, Glo spoke about Glo’s journey. The company has five HP Indigo presses, in its units in Coimbatore, Madurai, Chennai. This is the largest install base of Indigo in India.

Alon Bar-Shany of HP spoke about the technology revolution at Glo since the installation of  Indigo 3050. Bar-Shany said, “Over the years, HP Indigo customer base has grown its business from 18 billion pages to 288 billion pages." His speech which was translated into Tamil by Appadurai highlighted how Indigo invested half a billion dollars between one Drupa and the other in R&D."

 

Bar-Shany also spoke about new opportunities for Indigo customers. He highlighted a case-study of HP Indigo and Coca Cola wherein one billion labels were printed on Indigos all over the world for Coca Cola. “The customised Coca Cola labels helped the brand to connect with consumers,” added Bar-Shany.

Bar-Shany informed that the Indigo 10000, which is installed at Glo, is the latest press which has been developed over five years of R&D, customers’ feedback. “The B2-size press is faster and produces more vivid colours,” said Bar-Shany.

T S Ramanan, the managing director of Glo Colour Lab says, "The 10000, a B2 press meets 98% of offset requirements." He believes, "It will change the way people look at digital print."

Speaking about the USP of Indigo technology, Appadurai of HP said, “It is three times cheaper than inkjet and traditional photo printing."

On 5 April, Glo has organised a digital photography workshop by Sreenivasan of Institute of Srini Photography targeting students as well as professionals.
