Garnett offers Indiprint digital paper in India

Garnet Specialty Paper is gearing up to offer Indiprint – a textured paper and board specially designed for digital printing applications in a choice of two textures.

The paper is compatible for printing on HP Indigo, Xerox iGen, Epson, Xanté and other digital printing presses.

The Indiprint is a neutral pH product, which needs no pre-treatment before printing. According to a company brochure: “Indiprint is fully recyclable and made from renewable forest resources.”

Indiprint is available in 117, 135, 171 and 285 gsms and in two different textures: Canvas and satin.

The paper manufacturing hub of Vapi will soon see the specialty paper manufacturer from Otley in UK, expand its facility. In doing so, it will double capacity and offer Excel Print Plus special grade of paper for top-end commercial print firms.

Sheetal Mehta, the managing director of Garnett Specialty Paper says the firms will unveil the Excel Print Plus in mid-August. Also in the pipeline is special grades of Ecoline and Libretto for book binding.

The Garnett factory in Vapi is capable of producing 15,000 TPA specialty paper making and converting business. Mehta expects this number to double in 12 months due to the “increased demand potential in India”.

Interestingly, when the plant was set up in 2005, it was “an export-oriented paper plant”. Mehta stated, “Garnett invested $ 11 million in the Nathani paper mill in Vapi in 2005. In those days, we exported to 36 countries."  With the growing demand for paper in India, the company’s focus has shifted to the sub-continent with "50% local consumption of paper".

While walking through Garnett’s 1,25,000 sq/ft unit, Mehta concluded, "Today, Garnett Papers produces luxury packaging, paper envelopes, gift wrap, gift tags, document wallets, folders, box files and lever arch files, digital printing, is also ISO 001: 2000 and ISO 14000: 2004 certified. Garnett is one of the first paper factories in India to register under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products."
