Finance minister inaugurates SPM's bank note paper line

On 17 December, 2011, finance minister of India, Pranab Mukherjee laid the foundation stone of the new bank note paper line at Security Paper Mill (SPM), Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh.

SPM will increase its production capacity to 10, 000 metric tonnes of bank note paper per year by 2013. The  will be supplied by Voith GmbH, a leading Germany-based paper producer.  

SPM, an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO14001: 2004 certified unit under Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL) is in the field of manufacturing high quality Cylinder Watermarked Bank Note (CWBN) and other types of security papers.

The new line will be commissioned on the existing land of the paper mill.

A shareholders agreement was signed for a  joint venture company called Bank Note Paper Mill India between SPMCIL and Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (BRBNMPL) on 50:50 equity basis for setting up two lines of CWBN paper at Mysore.
