The Competence ’15 open house event from 26-28 February, 2015 hosted by Bobst India in Pune will see the partnership kick off with the recently launched Bobst Novacut 106 ER die-cutter, the brand new Lila II 145 folder-gluer and the in-line Accucheck inspection system, the Esko workflow using ArtiosCAD software for the structural design of cartons and the Kongsberg V20 cutting table, demonstrate the capabilities of the combined technologies, from carton design to prototyping and mass production.

Customers from India, South-East Asia and the Middle East are expected to attend the three-day event at Bobst’s Pirangut plant in Pune.

Venugopal Menon, vice-president of Bobst India, said, “Many of our partners will also show machines and technologies. We are particularly happy to have come to an agreement with Esko, which allows our demonstration centre in Pune to show the structural design of cartons and the creation of prototypes. Esko will also help us in our blanking tooling project.’’

Shrihari Rao, sales director of Esko India, said, “Bobst is the benchmark for quality and productivity in the carton and corrugated market segments. Esko is the benchmark for CAD/CAM packaging design and pre-press solutions. Esko’s ArtiosCAD, which is widely used by the packaging industry, complete with the die-making module is now installed at the Bobst India demonstration centre.”

This coming together of the two companies at one demo site signals that the venture will lead to increasingly innovative development opportunities to the Indian packaging industry. “The industry will surely benefit from the Esko-Bobst partnership for the Bobst India demonstration centre and the blanking and tooling project there.”
