A little more than three years old (Surepress L4033A was launched in October 2010), the Surepress series, according to Epson, has undergone continual enhancement, basis its discussion with customers. The company launched the Surepress L 4033AW with white ink in December 2012.

Enlisted in the series' India story is Sai Packaging, which installed India's first L4033AW. Sai booked the kit during Drupa 2012.

The Surepress series uses Epson's micro piezo inkjet technology and soluble inks to produce, what the company calls - magnificent colour reproduction - on a wide variety of label substrates. According to Epson's stats, 20% of Surepress customers have purchased two or more units.

Arvind Sekhar, director (South) at Sai Packaging, said selecting the SurePress was “easy”. "There are five reasons which back our decision for this investment: ability to print on white ink, no pre-treatment, ability to produce Pantone colour, our short-run jobs for the label segment and Satish Nayak’s guidance.” Satish Nayak is ISO Colour Consultant at Colour Mechanics.

According to the company statement, the Surepress series has contributed to Epson’s current market share of approximately 10%.

“We are committed to contributing to the profitability of our customers’ businesses,” said Eisuke Shimoyama, general manager responsible for sales and marketing of industrial solutions at Epson. “We are planning to launch a new model that includes a print head using our cutting-edge PrecisionCore technology. Going forward, our aim is to expand our market share and lead the digitalisation of the printing industry.
