Edale to showcase next generation FL-3 at Labelexpo Europe 2013

At the upcoming Labelexpo Europe 2013, Hampshire-based Edale, the manufacturer of narrow web flexo presses will showcase its latest UV flexo FL-3 label and flexible packaging press in hall 7 - stand 7M60.

Speaking to PrintWeek India at the recently concluded Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) Conference in Goa, Amitabh Luthra, managing director of Printers Supply Company, the Indian representative of Edale presses, said, “Edale will be running their next generation UV flexo FL-3 label and flexible packaging press every day throughout the four day show to simulate a real production environment, highlighting the machines focus on high productivity, low waste and super fast set up and changeover times.”

Luthra added, “With an industry focus on digital, Edale’s aim is to demonstrate a cost effective alternative. Edale is also planning to publish the reports of plates used, time to set up, a range of short and medium run lengths, consumables and volume of completed label and filmic jobs will be published at the end of each day, with a full report to follow post-expo.”

The Edale FL-3 has already been installed in the UK, Germany and Mexico. The FL-3 has features like short setup times (under 10 minutes), less than 20m of setup waste, and the capability of running up to 200m/min. The press is capable to run wider substrate range from 30 – 450 micron.

Meanwhile, Edale and AB Graphic International are set to launch the Digicon 3000 and announce new technology partnership.

Digicon 3000, a 762mm wide finishing system enables printers to convert pressure sensitive labels and flexible packaging printed on the HP Indigo 20000 digital press.

According to top official at AB Graphic International, the talks with Edale for technical partnership started in May 2012 as they have proven experience in wider webs and flexible packaging.

The two companies together bring more than 100 years combined technical expertise; AB Graphic International, having worked with HP for more than 15 years, and Edale having worked with AGFA Graphics for more than 12 years. Whilst the Digicon 3000 will be manufactured by Edale.

James Boughton, managing director of Edale said, “By working together both the companies have been able to create an advanced product that benefits from their respective technology strengths. As a result the Digicon 3000 is packed with innovations that will serve to enhance and broaden the applications possible in mid-web digital label and packaging printing.”

The HP Indigo 20000 digital press is poised to transform the film and label converting market with its capability to digitally produce the vast majority of label and flexible packaging applications. The press supports a 762mm wide roll with up to 1,118 mm repeat length, ensuring an easy fit into existing production lines.

The first  unit is scheduled for installation at Innovative Labelling Solutions (ILS) in Ohio in December 2013. ILS will be running a label and flexible packaging configuration with the HP Indigo 20000 running inline with the Digicon 3000.

The Digicon 3000 will run its first live demonstration on the HP stand at the show in September.

AB Graphic International will be exhibiting at stand 6F70 while HP will be exhibiting on stand 5C 105.
