The four-day show from 27-30 November, 2014 was inaugurated by Shyamal Sen, former chief justice of Calcutta High Court. “It’s a great opportunity for the printers of this region,” he said. “West Bengal has a big hinterland and is surrounded by countries like Nepal, Burma, Bangla Desh, Burma.”

Talking about the importance of print in every day and the challenges it faces from emerging media, Sen said, there’s a lot of advertisements on websites because of access to large number of audience, but print still remains essentials. “While travelling to the venue, I saw a number of hoardings; print cannot be avoided.”

Sen added, “Globalisation has made the world a smaller place, and hence one has to adopt new technologies to meet the changing situations. Science is progressing, and so is technology. What is modern today will become obsolete tomorrow. Staying updated is the way forward.

Over 75 exhibitors are showcasing their products across 1,200 sq/mtrs in two halls. As part of the EPP, the WBMPA will also host a seminar on Global Vision in an adjacent hall tomorros.

Bikash Sarker reiterated what he said yesterday. “The objective of hosting a print show in Kolkata is to provide an opportunity to those print companies in far flung areas of the eastern region of India, to come and witness some of the latest print and allied machinery as well as a new perspective on key trends in print.”
