DMI workshop on advanced screen printing

The Dhirubhai Mistry Institute for Print Education, Research and Training (DMI), an initiative in screen printing from Grafica Flextronica had organised a workshop in advanced screen printing process from 3-5 August 2015.

The preceding workshop held on 8-10 June 2015 had an attendance of more than 38 participants, and 175 guests including manufacturer, distributors, dealers and print CEO’s. The participants had theoretical and practical sessions covering pre-press, screen making, printing and post press activities.
 
At the DMI workshop, a sample of wine box was present with screen printed having as many as 22 impressions on MDF board. The project involved screen printing photochromic and thermochromic colour changing inks from Print Dynamic, UV special effects (abrasive, sensation, crystal, glitter, glow in dark, bubble, reflective UVs) from Colors and Skyscreen, and UV ink from Fujifilm Sericol.
 
Bhargav Mistry, director, DMI, “This concept can be used in packaging, gift items, commercial printing. As a manufacturing company, by conducting workshops and training programmes, Grafica, is giving back to the print society.”
 
During the workshop, the participants were rewarded a screen-printed certificate, certifying their participation in the workshop.
 
These workshops are open for professionals from the printing industry – offset, screen, digital, flexo, for updating their skills and knowledge about print. Students from various printing technology institutes also undergo special training at DMI. All programs are offered on an on-going basis, free of cost, throughout the year and students are offered placements at the end of the course.
