Design Plus Plus in Karur eyes China for tag exports

Design Plus Plus in Karur has targetted China as one of the countries for export of tags. The company has exported five shipments in the recent past - each shipment comprises 250 kgs.

The firm, a division of Hi-Life Labels a weaving company in Tirupur, produces labels and motifs for woven material, as well as tags and stickers.

R Ganesh of Design Plus Plus, said: "We export tags to Vietnam, Denmark and China. To facilitate exports, we have a marketing office in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Plus we are eyeing a tie-up with UK."

Ganesh said: "Countries are eyeing India because tag production is quite a specialist job, and it's a skill India is well placed to provide – with a price difference of 43%."

Almost 40% of Design Plus Plus's turnover is now generated by export sales to across the globe, with 60% from the domestic market.

Recently, the company installed a five-colour Mitsubishi 1F press under the EPCG scheme. The Rs 8-cr company is planning to move into a new building soon.
