Chennai to host second NPES Print Business Outlook Conference 2014

NPES, the association for suppliers of printing, publishing and converting technologies, together with co-organiser IPAMA will hold the NPES-IPAMA Print Business Outlook Conference 2014 on 18 February, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Chennai.

Following the success of the NPES Print Business Outlook Conference 2013 in Greater Noida during Printpack India, the second edition of the annual program has continued with the Printing Business beyond Boundaries. The Chennai chapter of the conference is expected to bring together more than 200 print leaders representing commercial printers, newspaper publishers and package printing markets.

Konica Minolta, which has set a target of leading the digital production printing space in India, has stepped in as the platinum sponsor of the event. “We are very pleased to continue our partnership with NPES, both for the summit as well as the Colour Management Program, reflecting our sustained efforts to grow and support the printing industry on the national as well as the international level,” said Tadahiko Sumitani, managing director, Konica Minolta Business Solutions India. 

Other sponsors of the event include EFI, HP, QuadTech and Toyo Ink. Along with the principal sponsoring companies, the conference is also supported by the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS), All Indian Federation of Master Printers Association (AIFMP) and Madras Printers & Lithographers Association (MPLA).

Major topics to be discussed during the conference include Review of the updated world-wide market for print study; Digital printing: Building the business; Retooling, restructuring and reinventing: The Rs 3 newspaper style; and Tips and Tricks: Doing print business with foreign companies.

Preceding the summit, on 15 and 16 February, NPES will also hold a Colour Management Professional (CMP) program, a new instructional/certification program based on colour management best practices for press operators. The CMP program is jointly sponsored by NPES, IDEAlliance and Konica Minolta.

Immediately following this two-day course, participants will have the opportunity to take a Colour Management Professional Printing Certification Exam. All successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of Colour Management Professional (CMP) for Printing by IDEAlliance.

Steve Ballinger, vice president, Print Media Technologies – IDEAlliance will conduct the training as chief trainer. During the two days, participants will undergo training in six lessons which include: Defining press room operating procedures; Defining target reference condition; optimising the press; press run to determine tone reproduction curves; verifying plate curves on multiple presses; and maintaining the press calibration.
