BMPA's STB forum raises the digital marketing pitch

"The race for success in print is highly competitive, so anyone offering to get under the bonnet and give your business a tune-up should be a godsend," said Faheem Agboatwala, chairman of BMPA's STB forum.

He was referring to Milap Shah of PrintStop and the latest topic of discussion – digital marketing – at the STB meet held on 21 September at PrintWeek India Pipal conference room.

Shah made the presentation and established a point that popular network platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs and the like can help keep up with the blistering pace of industry changes. "In the past, one needed to make calls, set appoints, visit clients for marketing your business. With internet, there’s an option to do just that without stepping out of your office," he said.

The interactive session was ideal for the members, who admitted, that it was something that they had not thought about. The forum was presented with examples of digital marketing, on planning and strategy, data management, tracking and measurement.

It’s well-known that most in the print community operate relatively small companies, and they cannot have an elaborate marketing team that they would like to have. "Digital marketing is ideal for anyone getting to grips with increased marketing challenges and this session helped understand online PR and social media tools and techniques to do that," said a member of the team.

The next STB session will be presented by Faheem Agboatwala. He will talk about his experience at the Graph Expo at Chicago. It will be held on 12 October at PrintWeek India's Pipal conference room.

The Share To Benefit forum is formed by the members of the Bombay Master Printers Association.
