Award Offset specialises in production of cartons, catch covers, leaflets , labels and blister cards, which is supported by independent printing and finishing operations.

“This latest Heidelberg press will help us navigate the challenges in a highly-competitive business environment,” said Rajesh Shah, chairman and MD at Award Offset.

Established in 1967 by Shah’s father late Navnitlal, in Mumbai, today the firm has expanded its operations with sites in Navi Mumbai and Silvassa. Shah is assisted by his brother Nitin and son Krunal in managing the print business.

Award’s plants in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, has a fleet of seven Heidelberg presses, while the new plant at Silvassa houses a Komori GL-640 six-colour plus coater press. Bobst folder-gluers and die-cutting machines are part of Awards’ post-press artillery.

When Awards decided to expand production and create new avenues, Nitin, said, it looked for a press that had high levels of automation, intelligent control and user-friendly operations which would minimise makeready times, energy consumption, and paper waste. “We found these features in the Speedmaster SX-102, coming as it is from one of our trusted partners, Heidelberg,” said Nitin. The SX 102 can print up to 14,000 sheets per hour.

Peter Rego, business head for equipment sales at Heidelberg India, said, “The Speedmaster SX 102 is a hybrid press, combining the reliability of the tried-and-tested SM platform. There are more than 35,000 users worldwide using the Speedmaster perfecting technology.”
