Nemade is the fourth Marathi writer to win the country's highest literary honour after VS Khandekar in 1974, VV Shirwadkar in 1988, and Vinda Karandikar in 2003.

Nemade’s last published work is Hindu: Jaganyachi Samruddha, in 2010. Based on an extensive 31-year research, the book discussed the evolution of Hindu religion over the centuries and created controversy among right-wing groups.

The classic was printed and hard-case bound by Anand Limaye’s India Printing Works in Mumbai. Limaye complimented the Mumbai-based author for the prestigious award as he gifted a copy of Hindu: Jaganyachi Samruddha to PrintWeek India.

Limaye said, “The book published by Popular Prakashan saw a good response for the first edition. After which, IPW printed a run for 5000 copies and was reprinted twice with quantities of 2000 and 1000 copies. Post the award announcement, the third reprint is in progress.”

IPW has also printed Nemade's all-time classic, Kosla, which is considered to be a path-breaking novel in Marathi literature. Besides this, IPW has printed the poetry collection of Vinda Karandikar.

Nemade has also been conferred the Padma Shri and has won the Sahitya Akademi Award, besides many other accolades.
