Girish Rao, managing director at Akruti, said: "The advantage of the Ink Pre-set is that the information regarding the colour is shown on the screen. The operator can get the ink data directly from the one-bit TIFF file, which means one need not invest in a CIP3. With this system, the wastage of paper and ink is reduced thereby increasing productivity and profitability."

Rao added: "Production houses like ours have to strive hard to deliver quality and get consistent colour. Therefore, colour and quality devices like Easytrax will help us deliver quality. This device is sophisticated, powerful and eliminates the need for spot reading with the hand-held densitometer giving superior control across the job run."

The Easytrax and Digital Information’s Ink Pre-set was supplied and installed by Mumbai-based Advanced Graphic Systems (AGS), which manages X-Rite products in India.

Vishnu Kamat, assistant vice president, sales at AGS, said: "The simplicity of the EasyTrax and Ink Pre-set system usage is an added advantage as it saves time and reduces the wastage of paper and ink."

Akruti which houses one Heidelberg MOV four-colour and MO single-colour, KBA Rapida 74 four-colour press, one Polar cutting machine, one Morgana Digi Pro crease and fold, Stahl folder, Sheridan four-station collating-stitching and three knife trimming, consumes 1,200 plates, 400 kg of ink and 40 tons of paper per month, prints magazines like Heritage India, Viva Goa and Moda, a fashion magazine.
