The Knowledge Centre will demonstrate the entire labelling process on the latest and the best, beginning with pre-press, printing and converting, right through to label application. It will showcase the newest trends and innovations in the pressure sensitive label industry, as well as host training and knowledge-sharing sessions for print buyers and print heads.

Anil Sharma, managing director, South Asia and Sub Saharan Africa at Avery Dennison India, says, “With the launch of the Knowledge Centre, Avery Dennison has again affirmed its commitment to the Indian packaging industry. This unique facility will enable the adoption of pressure sensitive labelling in India to occur faster, taking packaging to a whole new growth phase. Avery Dennison has provided a platform for stakeholders from the packaging and marketing domain to better understand the benefits of pressure sensitive labeling.”

The pre-press section at the Knowledge Centre is equipped with Esko systems like its new software Store Visualiser, which provides a virtual tour of how the products would look on the shelf in the mall. Esko also has a CDI Spark 4835 digital imaging system while Dupont has its Cyrel 1000 ECDLF, which can expose, dry and post-expose the flexo plate and Cyrel Fast. This process uses dry thermal technology for plate development, and completely eliminates conventional solvents and aqueous washout solutions.

The press on the shopfloor is a Gallus EM280 narrow web flexo press, which has the option of cold and hot foiling and can print labels using Flint inks and Rotometric rotary dies.

The Registar TY-F25, flexo plate mounter ensures proper mounting of flexo plate before they go to press. For multi-colour jobs, its essential for all the plates to be mounted identically.

Our take-away: The Knowledge Centre replicates a real production shopfloor. This is ideal for an Indian seeking to diversify or for new entrants or print buyers to grasp the technicalities of label printing. The Knowledge Centre provides a good idea about the space, kit, standards and the required investment.
