According to Xerox, ‘Iridesse is the only digital press that can print metallic gold or silver dry ink, CMYK and clear dry ink in a single pass, giving print providers an immediate competitive edge in the growing digital print enhancement market.’

The press is expected to print at speeds up to 120ppm for A4 and media at 52 and 400gsm. It is said to print at “ultra HD resolution” of 2,400dpi and uses Xerox’s High Definition Emulsion Aggregate (HD EA) toner.

“We created the press to produce these special effects and digital enhancements cost-effectively and in a simplified workflow so our customers can seize the market opportunity and grow their businesses,” said Ragni Mehta, vice-president and general manager, cut-sheet business, Xerox.

EFI-developed Xerox’s EX-P 6 Print server is expected to enable the creation of customised workflows for metallic applications. The press is also said to be available with inline finishing options such as crease and trimmer, booklet makers and a SquareFold fold-trim module.

The Iridesse will be demonstrated to European clients at Xerox's Premier Partner Forum in Warsaw, Poland, on 22-23 May.
