The FL5 machine, installed about 15 months ago at Itek’s 20,000-sqft facility in Bengaluru, has helped Itek Packz bag five international awards, including the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) award in 2018.

Gopi Ballarwad, operations head, Itek Packz, said, "The FL5 is a single-press carton solution providing high-level of embellishments and flat-bed die-cutter. It has allowed Itek to win numerous international awards for its print quality. Hence, to achieve the same quality for labels, we have opted for the FL3 press."

The FL3 and FL5 come with the same printhead geometry and FL3 prints on the substrate ranging from 12-450 microns.

The machine was commissioned by Kolkata’s Printers Supply Company, Edale’s partner in India.

Amitabh Luthra, director at Printers Supply, said, "FL5 is capable of printing a wide range of substrates from 12 - 600-microns and Itek are running it at a full capacity for printing on cartons, and hence, when they wanted to go for label printing they trusted in Edale’s quality and dependability and decided to go for the FL3 press.”

The FL3 label presses consist of an AiiR (autonomous inking, impression and register) system. It also comprises job data storage, Industry 4.0 and workflow integration.

It also offers auto-set back slitting and sheer slitting.

Luthra said, "After having great success for the carton presses over the years, we are now succeeding in the label presses segment as well.”

Few of the marquee names who have installed the Edale presses include Uflex, NAP Printers, Prakash Labels and Sprint Packaging.
