Smarth Bansal of Colorjet with the new launch Vulcan 3200

Vulcan 3200 is a 3.2 m wide-format printer with five Konica Minolta printheads and the latest Polo HQ eco-solvent printer has been upgraded to six colours from the previous model of four colours

Smarth Bansal, DGM, product management, Colorjet India, said, “There was a need for higher speed machine and the maximum demand was for the for the backlit applications. Backlit applications printed on fabrics using the Rico or Kyocera printheads gives a very high-quality sharpness of the print but the speed offered was considerably less compared to the Konica Minolta printheads.”

“To create the right blockouts in a backlit, printing takes a lot of time because drop size is very small in Rico and Kyocera. So Konica Minolta printhead makes the right mix where the drop size is of 14 picolitre and the blockouts can be created in six passes, hence increasing the productivity,” added Bansal.

Vulcan 3200 handles a range of substrates varying from self-adhesive vinyl, PVC banners, backlit film or fabrics. The six-colour Vulcan can handle the maximum roll weight of 150kgs with a maximum outer diameter of 300mm.

Vulcan 3200 uses LED-UV technology, consuming less power and reducing the carbon footprint. It also uses eco-cooling technology which flows beneath the bed to keep the overall temperature of the bed under control.

The Polo HQ is a 3.2m eco-solvent printer with a drop size of 10-13 picolitre. Polo HQ was launched last year with four colour option and at the Media Expo 2019, six-colour variant of the machine has been launched.

"After looking at the market dynamics, eco-solvent printers needed to have better skin tones and colour gamut. So, we launched an advanced version of Polo HQ with the addition of two more colours."

Colorjet has installed 50 Polo HQ in India and across the globe which includes Portugal, Australia, Spain, Italy, Thailand, and Spanish.

"The inks used in Polo HQ and Vulcan 3200 are ROHS compliant. LED UV and ROHS compliant show our green approach which is a small step towards being eco-friendly,” concluded Bansal.

Polo HQ and Vulcan with Kyocera printheads have been recently installed at Mumbai-based Nineblinq.
