Foliant Vega 400A makes a mark at PrintPack

The Foliant Vega 400A does high-speed thermal lamination with auto feeder and cutting. As Parag Shah, head of Hitech Systems explained at the show, "You just load sheets and run the machine, everything else is automatic." Shah said the machine has great ease of use. "We had a student from a printing institute operate the Foliant with training of less than one hour."

Hitech System offers "full warranty for one year and support from an engineer who is trained by the Foliant team. The machine is controlled with an interactive, icon-based touchscreen and its used control system includes many automation items for easy control of the machine and reliable lamination.

The machine which costs Rs 13 lakhs upwards has a pneumatic high-pressure system (with an integrated compressor inside machine frame). This ensures the machine is suitable for all kinds of digital printed sheets lamination and high volumes of offset printed sheets size B2+ / B3+lamination. The machine maximum speed is up to 18 m/min., while performance is over 1500 sheets per hour of B2 portrait / 2000 sheets per hour of B3 portrait (blank paper 200 gsm). Shah said, "The range of machines is from 15 inches to 30 inches and the speed ranges from 15 metres to 50 metres per minute.

Foliant users include Vistaprint, Swaminarayan Mandir, Dedecor, etc. Of this, Mumbai-based GPS produces photo prints which are printed on a Konica Minolta. One project which GPS pulled off with consummate ease was a children picture book. Shah said, "There was one project which had a daily challenge because it required more than 5,000 prints which had to be laminated in four hours."
